The Board of Trustees of SC State University is dedicated and committed to ensuring that we provide perpetual funding sources for deserving students who attend, as well as those who desire to attend, SC State University. For that reason, we are hosting the Lowcountry Classic III ~ An Event with a Purpose. The weekend event will be held on September 12-13 2008, in Charleston, S.C., with the main event, taking place on Saturday, September 13, when the SC State Bulldogs, take on the Bethue-Cookman Widlcats at the Johnson Hagood Stadium .

 The Classic is greater than a game, and the entire weekend experience is designed to accomplish several goals:

• Raise more than $200,000 for needs-based scholarship funds for deserving students;
• Positively impact the low country economy; 
  
• Bring together a community of diverse interests;
  
• Partner with low country businesses & neighborhoods to promote higher education;
  
• Experience exciting events & entertainment including action-packed Football, our stellar Marching Band, and the Lowcountry Classic III Celebrity Golf Tournament, Coaches Luncheon, Step Extravaganza, and College Fair!
